Devon Dunsmoor is at the stage in her life where most young people are beginning to figure out their career paths, but there’s no doubt in Devon’s mind about her calling. Growing up in a small mid-western town of Russell, Iowa (pop. 500), music was ever-present in her home. Inspired by her father’s love of the guitar, Devon took up singing and playing guitar early in life. Devon’s journey began with her first solo singing job at the age of 9, for a local county fair. Besides singing, Devon is a musician and experienced lyricist. Devon plays guitar, keyboard/piano and trapset. Devon started writing lyrics at the age of 8. Her first single was a song called “A Little Girl’s Dreams” which she wrote at age 11. From there, Devon acquired a growing fan base and by the age of 12 was a featured regular on The Sammy Lee Show, a monthly Branson style music show. When Devon was 13, she collaborated with two of her former band members and recorded her first original. The song has since been a hit with her loyal fans, especially tween girls. She remained with The Sammy Lee Show until the age of 16 and has also been featured on numerous radio stations. Devon acquired her first band at the age of 12 and began singing before audiences at various venues across the mid-west. She is a born entertainer, whether she is performing in front of hundreds or thousands, Devon has the showmanship of a seasoned pro. When she was 12, she represented Iowa in the AMTC in Kansas City and placed 2nd in the gospel and pop categories. The following year, at only 13, she competed in the adult division and won 2nd place in the country music category. Devon has also won contests and awards throughout the state of Iowa. Since relocating to Los Angeles with her family last year, Devon has devoted her time to writing songs and recording her impending first album. Despite Devon’s demanding schedule, she has managed to graduate a year early from high school while maintaining a 3.9 GPA and has received academic awards including: National Honor Roll, Who’s Who in American High School Students, is a 2005 U.S.Achievement Academy Award winner, and is a member of The National BETA Club.
